Job Description

Job Summary:

The Finance Specialist is responsible for managing, analyzing, and reporting the financial activities of the courthouse. This includes budgeting, accounting, auditing, and compliance with state and federal financial regulations. The role supports the efficient operation of the courthouse through effective financial oversight and resource management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and manage annual budgets and financial forecasts.

  • Process invoices, purchase orders, and financial transactions in accordance with government accounting standards.

  • Monitor and reconcile accounts, ledgers, and financial statements.

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.

  • Ensure compliance with state and federal financial laws, grant requirements, and internal policies.

  • Support audits by providing necessary documentation and responding to audit inquiries.

  • Assist with payroll processing and benefits reconciliation, as needed.

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for court financial activities.

  • Liaise with external vendors, contractors, and auditors regarding financial matters.

  • Provide financial analysis and recommendations for court-related projects and procurement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.

  • Minimum of 2–4 years of financial or accounting experience, preferably in a government or public sector setting.

  • Strong knowledge of governmental accounting standards and regulations (e.g., GAAP, GASB).

  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving ability.

  • Ability to work independently and maintain confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA or CGFM certification.

  • Procurement certification must be completed w/in 1 year of employment 

  • Experience with public sector ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Incode 9).

  • Familiarity with court operations and government funding processes.

Salary Range:

$65,000 – $75,000 annually, depending on experience
